With 1,800 miles of Pacific coastline in Peru you can understand why many flock to the beaches when visiting this beautiful part of the country. Pointing you in the northern direction of the coast will take you to the best beaches to visit. Coastal cities, like Lima, are busiest during the months from January to March, where you will find the locals spending their weekends soaking in the summer sun and enjoying the ocean breezes. Many partake in various water sports like surfing, wind surfing and scuba diving. Surfing is a highly popular sport, and people from all over the world come to compete in the international surfing events held here yearly. That speaks volumes on how desirable the waves are for enjoying this thrilling sport.

When considering where to go to catch a wave, your best bet would be in the cities of Piura, Tumbes, Trujillo and Lima. Punta Sal is at the top of the list for best beach resorts. It is about an hours drive from Tumbes. A stay at the luxurious Punt Sal Club Hotel is a great choice for an unforgettable Peru beach resort vacation. Its accommodations include single or double rooms, and 2 and 4 bedroom bungalows. Also included are breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotels fine restaurant. If you are coming from Lima, the car or bus ride is a long one, but it is a beautiful, scenic ride. If you don’t have the time to enjoy driving up the coastline, you can take a flight that is about a 2 hour ride.

Mancora is about half an hour from Punta Sal. Here is where you will find 6 foot waves and taller. This is definitely a surfer’s paradise, where you can actually find someone to give you some surfing lessons if you are a novice. Just walk into any surf shop on the shorefront and inquire within. You can take a leisurely stroll down the soft, white sandy beach, or explore the Las Pocitas rock formation, and take a swim in the pools that are there. Mancora has a lively bar scene where you can quench you thirst after a hot day on the beach. There are plenty of hotels and hostels to rest your tired bodies after an exhilarating day filled with all of the pleasures that a Peru beach vacation has to offer.

Other considerations for a beach vacation can be enjoyed in cities more north. Paita is 30 miles from Piura. Pimental and Santa Rosa can be found less than 10 miles from Chiclayo, while Huanchaco is just 7 miles from Trujillo. If you are flying into Lima, which is where most flights land, you might like to take advantage of its beaches durng the summer months from December to April. Most of the better beaches are south of the city, where much of the crowd is young. This is where you will find some of your best nightlife going on. The beaches of Miraflores, Barranco and Chorrillos, as well as the port area of Callao, are also lovely beach areas that can be a relaxing place to pitch your umbrella and catch up on that novel you started on the airplane. Sounds so alluring, doesn’t it? Pack your bikini, and plan your Peru beach resort vacation while the surf is up.
