From the finest of hotels, to the uniqueness of hostels, there is room for everyone to stay in Peru’s largest city and capital. Hostels are easy on the budget, and if you are into meeting people from all over the world it gives you the opportunity to share some down time in a family type setting. Often you will share bathrooms, but your room should be comfortable and clean. You may be drawn into the festive atmosphere that most hostels are known for. Sitting out on the rooftops on a crisp, starlit evening, sipping a beer with other travelers, makes these popular accommodations one of the many different ways to experience Peru. One of the nicer hostels/hotels in the center of Lima is the Hotel Espana. For something a little more desirable the La Posada del Parque Hostal might be a perfect fit. It is on the higher end of hostel rates but it is worth checking out. There are only 9 units, so keep that in mind when you are timing your visit. There is satellite TV and internet service available in the large, clean rooms and the location is on one of the quieter streets of central Lima. If you are looking to stay in the desirable city of Miraflores and want to stick to a budget you may want to look into the Hostal Jose Luis. It is tucked away in one of the more secluded areas, yet within walking distance of shops and night life activity. There is a shared cooking facility on the premises, and also has a laundry room. The rate includes a dorm room style, with bunk beds, a private bath and a free breakfast.
If hostels are not your style, and luxury is a must, the area of choice is to stay in Miraflores. This is where you will find the upscale hotels. It is the perfect location for breathtaking views to go along with exquisite accommodations. The Miraflores Park Hotel is a recommended choice. The large rooms, with its granite and marble bathrooms make a statement of this fine hotel. A room with an ocean view is perfect to top off the relaxing atmosphere that you desire. Rooms are conveniently set up with a fax machine, data ports and phone lines. The large screen TV screen adds to the amenities of this nicely appointed room. The hotels service is run with the type of expertise that one would expect from a luxury hotel.
Miraflores has more upscale hotels that are a little easier on the budget. One such hotel would be the JW Marriott Hotel and Casino. Still a bit pricey, but the location is ideal. It is situated across from a mall with many restaurants and shops to choose from. The hotel has its own 5 star restaurant, spa, swimming pool, tennis court and gift shop. Spacious rooms offer a coffeemaker, high-speed internet and some rooms with an ocean view. Peru also has its own chain of hotels. One of which is the Casa Andina Miraflores Centro. It is good on the budget and located close by to Restaurants, shops and casinos, with an artisans market just across the street. The large rooms are equipped with beautiful marble bathrooms, cable TV, comfy beds, a mini bar and internet access. The breakfast buffet comes with the room rate and is an added plus to this great value. It is probably the best hotel for the price in all of Miraflores. If you are seeking something a little more charming you may want to consider the Hotel Antigua Miraflores. Once a mansion, built in the early 1,900’s, it stands out as quaint and elegant, with a touch of history. It offers either a large suite with a Jacuzzi and kitchenette, or a regular double occupancy room. Both types of rooms have cable TV and a terrace to sit and relax on. There is a bar on site, and a gym with a Jacuzzi. A complimentary breakfast is offered and there is a restaurant to enjoy all of your other meals.
